ArcGIS Notebook Server installs language-specific resources that allow you to localize the user interface of the notebook editor with a preferred language. Localized help documentation for some languages is available on the ArcGIS Enterprise help website or as a separate installation that you download from My Esri.
Languages available during installation
The ArcGIS Notebook Server installation wizard is only available in English. However, the configuration wizard can be displayed in 10 languages. The display language is determined by the language settings in the web browser with which you access the wizard. The following languages are available in addition to English:
- Arabic
- Simplified Chinese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Brazilian Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish
- Turkish
Languages available in the notebook editor
Because you access ArcGIS Notebooks through the ArcGIS Enterprise portal website, the language of the notebook editor is the same as the current language of the portal.

The display language of the portal website is determined by the organization language. By default, the organization language is set to English. Individual members can set their own preferred language in their user profile. This allows users to override the organization language after they sign in to the website. Users who do not have an ArcGIS organizational account will always see the portal website in the organization language; they are not allowed to specify their own language.
Portal administrators can also change the organizational language setting.
Languages available for documentation
The ArcGIS Notebook Server help documentation is available in the following languages:
- English
- Arabic
- Chinese (Simplified Han)
- French
- German
- Italian
- Korean
- Japanese
- Polish
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Russian
- Spanish
By default, only English documentation is installed with the software. The installed documentation is what's accessed when you open help links from the notebook editor. To view the installed documentation in a language other than English, download and install the ArcGIS Notebook Server Language Pack from My Esri.
You can also view the ArcGIS Notebook Server help documentation in any of the above languages on the ArcGIS Enterprise documentation website. To change the display language, click the drop-down menu at the upper right of the website and select your language.
