The ArcGIS Instant Apps update includes the new features, app templates, and enhancements listed below.
Instant Apps home
- The Create tab includes a new Details view so you can read the app description and example use cases while browsing the app templates.
- The My Apps tab now allows you to sort by owner, which is helpful when you filter by My organization's apps.
Configuration
- All apps now include the Compass tool, which indicates where north is in relation to the current rotation of the map or scene. Users can click the tool to reset the map orientation.
- The design of the Map and Scene settings panels has been improved and a couple settings moved to more applicable sections. The Map accessibility setting moved to the About > App details panel, renaming Map description to Text alternative for the map. The Shortcuts menu setting moved to Interactivity > Explore. (If you can't locate a setting, use Search settings to find and go to specific options in the configuration panel.)
- The Export to PDF setting was renamed to Export in several app templates and includes additional enhancements. For example, you can select the icon that's used for the button in the app and users can specify what to include in the export, such as the map, legend, and pop-ups.
Templates
- Insets is a new template to display noncontiguous geographic locations within a single app layout so users can view and interact with data from a layer in multiple locations at once. Customize map locations for the inset windows with the option to use bookmarks from the map. You can control layer visibility per inset map and choose to display scale bars in the maps. You can also style the inset windows and set their position in the layout.
- Public Notification is a new template that helps agencies streamline the process of generating public notices. They can identify a collection of affected properties based on proximity to a location or an area drawn on the map, and create formatted mailing labels to notify property owners or occupants. When users export as PDF, they can also choose to include the map. You can configure a custom splash screen that users see when they first open the app, such as to provide instructions to guide them.
- 3D Viewer includes the option to turn on the Building explorer tool so users can explore building scene layers.
- Exhibit has new options to configure the fill and outline colors for selected features in the map. The slide title setting was replaced with an edit button in the header of the slide configuration window so you can edit the slide title text directly. You can also choose from a menu to go to a specific slide to edit. There's a new configuration setting to show the app title in the header with the slide title. You can now choose which slides include a legend. When users export the current slide, new options allow them to provide a custom title and include or exclude the slide notes, legend, and pop-up.
- Imagery Viewer now includes more theme settings so you can choose from a set of predefined themes to style the app, plus options to choose fonts and custom colors.
- Interactive Legend now supports collapsing portions of long legends and provides a new side panel style that docks it on either side of the map, giving users more space to interact with the legend.
- Nearby now includes the Layer list setting so users can turn layer visibility on or off in the map, with the option to show the legend for specific layers. The results panel now has a button for users to zoom to the feature in the map with an opened pop-up. If pop-ups are enabled in the map, users can also click in the map to view pop-ups for features that aren't in the results.
- Sidebar allows you to specify the editable layers to include in the edit tool, which now supports editing related records. You can choose from a set of icons for the export, introduction, and details buttons that appear in the app. The measure tool has new settings to specify the default units for area and length. When you include a scale bar, you can use the dual unit style to display both metric and nonmetric units. The layer list configuration has been improved for usability.
- Slider includes a new Map area setting that combines the Navigation boundary configuration and a new Map view option to set the initial map extent for the app, which overrides the web map's default view. (This setting will be added to more apps in a future release.) You can now configure multiple numeric sliders that users choose from a menu to play different data animations in the app. For example, one app can now animate rent prices from lowest to highest for each U.S. state for the past three years in different sliders, regardless of how the data was stored (as separate layers or fields in one layer).
- Zone Lookup now includes the Layer list setting so users can turn layer visibility on or off in the map, with the option to show the legend for specific layers. The results panel now has a button for users to zoom to the feature in the map with an opened pop-up. If pop-ups are enabled in the map, users can also click in the map to view pop-ups for features that aren't in the results.
